Hello,
I’m doing a research of availability of web services based on GIS.
In my research I’m using INSPIRE regulation for the Network services.
Therefore I need the information of availability of an Environmental Atlas (http://discomap.eea.europa.eu/map/environmentalatlas/) and for the web page Data and maps (http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps) for this year (2011).
The availability means probability that the Network Service is available.
Thank you for the answer.

Best regards
Ales Versic

Hi,

The network services are available via our GIS infrastructure (discomap).
INSPIRE view service is linked to the WMS, the EEA web services rely on WMS. The EEA web services are accessible through the list of services available here: http://discomap.eea.europa.eu/
http://discomap.eea.europa.eu/ArcGis/rest/services

For your specific request about Environmental Atlas, you find the service listed at http://discomap.eea.europa.eu/[…]/MapServer
Please note that the Environmental Atlas is under a test environment and the link will change when we move it.

Regarding the "Data and maps products catalogue" (http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps)
- the metadata for spatial data sets and in some cases the full INSPIRE metadata is available in addition
- the possibility to download the spatial data set in different formats (This might be similar to the INSPIRE download capability of pre-defined data set).

All metadata is also available as web service via the newly created semantic data service (http://semantic.eea.europa.eu) via a SPARQL endpoint you can query:
http://semantic.eea.europa.eu/sparql
Query examples: http://svn.eionet.europa.eu/projects/Reportnet/wiki/SPARQL

I hope my answer above gave you enough details to continue your research.

Kind regards
On behalf of several IT collegues :)

Be aware that this service and all the services under our "test folder" are there only for test and can be deleted or moved or changed without notification.

This specific services (environmental atlas) is planned to be moved in internal.
If of course people feel that it could be usefull as a public webservice they are asked to show their interst for it and we could move it to our public infrastructure.
