Hello EEA Team,

As part of a research project, we are mapping water quality and water quantity indicators. We were able to download the Waterbase_Water Quantity Wise Data and have used the shapefiles from ECRINS to map the catchments in Europe. However, the river basin codes are different in the ECRINS (eg. written as WGDxxxxxxx) and the Wise Database (euRBDcode). Is there a file which contains both of these codes so that we can match the datasets?

Or otherwise, is it possible to directly download the data for variables such as WEI or nitrate in rivers in a format which also contains the ECRINS river basins?

Many thanks in advance,
Ian McNamara

No complete overlapping exists in river basin delineation between Ecrins and WFD. River basin of the WFD contains administrative boundaries while Ecrins river basins are purely hydrological. That is particularly the case for the international river basins. The RDB codes provided in the Ecrins is just for referencing purposes. There is no possibility for the moment to provide the link on the WEI+ interactive map for downloading the underlying data. However, if requested we can share the data. The current version of the WEI+ is covering the years 2002-2014. The new version for the years 1990-2015 is under the consultation of the EIONET network, and those data will be available for sharing once the consultation is completed. The data for the current version can be shared upon request.

Best regards
