Hi - My question is about present number of waste water tretament plants and related volumes of waste water treated (liter per year) in Europe, Middle East and Africa, broken down to the individual countries in the regions and (where known) assigned to municipal and industrial plants. Thank you in advance

Hello recife

The EEA is the EU agency responsible for providing information on the European environment. As a result, we do not hold the information you requested for Africa and the Middle East.

Concerning Europe, there are no complete statistics on number of waste water treatment plants and amount treated. In the EUREAU (the European industrial organisation on water and waste water services) statistics from 2009, it is estimated that there are 68 800 waste water treatment plants treating wastewater from 667 million person equivalents. For information on this see p. 90 in http://www.riool.net/[…]/retrieveFile?itemid=4814&style=default

EU Member States have reported information from 28 000 waste water treatment plants to Waterbase - UWWTD: Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive. The information reported is available here http://www.eea.europa.eu/da[…]water-treatment-directive-3

I hope this information is helpful.
