What is the night noise level (Lnight) limit to be taken into account when designing noise protection measures near Trans European Transport Network Motorways?
REGULATION (EU) No 1315/2013 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on Union guidelines for the development of the trans-European transport network requires that environmental assessment of plans and projects shall be carried out in accordance with the Union law on the environment

Hello,
Regarding to the WHO night noise guidelines, people shouldn’t be exposed to more than 40 dB Lnight, outside. However, this level is a guideline value and it is not enforced by the Environmental Noise Directive, which only obliges countries to report night levels for major roads from 50dB Lnight.

Best regards
