Dear EEA,

I have a question about your upcoming dataset "CO2 emissions from new passenger cars". Is this dataset going to have both the NEDC lab test data as the new WLTP?

Kind regards,

Thomas Segers

Dear M. Thomas Segers,

Thank you for your interest in the European Environment Agency.

We are currently in the process of changing the test procedure. This means that all new car models, going through a first 'type approval' as of September 2017 will have both WLTP and NEDC values. Other car models will have the WLTP values as of September 2018. This means that our upcoming dataset for 2018 will not contain WLTP values for all car models. We will continue collecting NEDC data until 2021, and even until 2022 for low emitting vehicles I (< 50 g/km).

Please be informed that a new legislation as regards WLTP test conditions and monitoring of type approval data has recently been approved: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/[…]/?uri=CELEX:32018R2043.

I hope that this information will be useful.

With kind regards,
EEA Enquiry Service
