Electric Vehicles -- Hi, I work for the European Climate Foundation, and I'm researching the potential for uptake of electric vehicles. Can anybody tell me what percentage of kilometres travelled by car in the EU is commuting? and if possible, what percentage of EU households own 2 cars? Thanks

Dear Pete,

I understand that you already received direct feedback on your question from an EEA transport expert. I hope it helped you.

To allow other users to benefit from his answer as well, I post it below:

I would suggest you to go to this document:
EC, 2011d, Impact Assessment, Accompanying document to the White Paper 'Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system' (SEC(2011) 358 final) (http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/ LexUriServ.do?uri=SEC:2011:0358:FIN:EN:PDF)

I am quite sure I have seen the information that you are looking for.

Otherwise you can also try:

The other way is car sharing. People may avoid having two cars (i.e. EV and large diesel), if they can get the right car for the right purpose at a reasonable price.
