Dear Sir or Madam,
I read with great interest EEA Technical Report No 6/2009 "Europe's onshore and offshore wind energy potential An assessment of environmental and economic constraints".
I found very interesting the energy potential (TWh) per European country but I was wondering if I could access the capacity potential (in GW) per European country for each member state and for both onshore and offshore wind.
I would be very grateful if you could provide me this additional information.
Best regards.

Dear Ms Dupre,

Thank you for contacting the European Environment Agency (EEA).
Unfortunately, the EEA has neither updated the respective assessment since 2009 nor do we have data on the potential expressed as capacity. We would suggest that you consult the following links, where you may find the information that you are looking for:

- EWEA Wind energy scenarios report:[…]/EWEA-Wind-energy-scenarios-2030.pdf

- The Global Wind Atlas (developed by a number of reputed organisations, including the International Renewable Energy Agency, the International Energy Agency, the World Bank, and the Danish Technology University):

- The JRC’s 2018 report on wind power potentials in EU Member States and neighboring countries:[…]datasets-jrc-eu-times-model

- A recent article by Enevoldsen P. et al (2019) “How much wind power potential does Europe have?”:[…]/19-EuropeWind.pdf

We hope that this may be useful for you.

With kind regards,

Thank you for your quick response. Actually, I wanted to compare the methods and results of studies that aim to calculate renewable energy potentials so I would have wanted to get EEA's own capacity results. But it is ok, I understand. Kind regards.
