Does the EU address the vapor intrusion pathway resulting from contaminated groundwater or soil? It's common in the USA.

Hello JBoyer

Unfortunately our expert here that may be able to help with this query is away at the moment. We will get an answer to you as soon as we can upon her return. In the meantime, we will contact some of our colleagues in other EU bodies to see if they can also help.

Hi John

After discussing this questions with colleagues here as well as in other EU offices, it appears that to our knowledge, there are no provisions or guidelines at an EU level on the vapour intrusion pathway resulting from contaminated groundwater or soil.

However, the Common Forum on Contaminated Land in the EU may be able to give you details on what is happening in Member States, and is likely to have the most relevant expertise. The Common Forum can be found here: http://www.commonforum.eu

You may also find it useful to contact the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation for information on EU current research in this area. They can be contacted here: http://ec.europa.eu/[…]/index.cfm?pg=faqandenquiries&lg=en

I hope that this information is helpful. Good luck with your research.
