I am writting a study on environmental conservation for an academic work of the University. With the recent designation of the Biosphere Reserves of Spain by UNESCO (Alto Turia, La Siberia and Valle del Cabriel), I am developing the virtues that these spaces possess and need to maintain in order to obtain this type of distinctions or similar ones depending on the European Union, as the spaces of the Natura 2000 Network. I don't know if there is a specific catalog of habitats and species in detail for each geographic area. So far I have only found generic data and without specifically locating the location of the species (on websites such as http: //natura2000.eea.europa.), Which is true that provides information on the species and species habitats but it does so marking the entire area of the ZEPA Puerto Peña - Los golondrinos, without clearly locating where each species and habitat sits.

However, I would like to identify in a very specific way the habitat and the species that occupy the banks of the Guadiana as it passes through the Puerto Peña - Los Golondrinos area (SiteCode: ES4310009) so that I could clearly place it on the map where inhabit each species and what is the specific habitat. Could that be possible?

Thanks in advance and best regards

Dear M. 'Sam79',

Thank you for contacting the European Environment Agency (EEA).

For Natura 2000 sites, there is no detailed information about the location of species and habitat types inside the sites. Member States only provides the information for which species and habitat types a certain Natura 2000 site is designated. This information is inside the so-called Standard Data Form and it can be viewed also from the EUNIS web application:
http://natura2000.eea.europa.eu/[…]/SDF.aspx?site=ES4310009 (section 3)

Every six years Member States report about the status and trend of species and habitat types under the Habitats and the Birds Directives. The distribution of the species is also provided on a 10X10 km grid. The spatial files and the database is available for download
Next year, the 2013-2019 dataset will be released.

It is also available in EUNIS e.g.
Iberian painted frog - Discoglossus galganoi: https://eunis.eea.europa.eu/species/667
See the Threat and conservation status tab.

We hope that this information may be useful for you.

With kind regards,

All this information is very useful for me. I have found very interesting this link:

But I have some problem to understand the information inside. For example, about species (section 3.2), I cannot understand what SITE ASSESSMENT classification means (including the categories Pop, Con, Iso and Glo, and the values inside A, B, C, D)

Could you help me?

Thank you very much.
