We're two Spanish journalism students at Santiago de Compostela University (USC). We're working on a reportage about animal shelters and animal abandonmet in Spain as our final project for the subject of Jurnalistic Communication and we need your help to get information about:
- If there is a regulation of animal abandonment in the European Union (laws and knowing if they work at the moment).
- Know if there is any help or funding for animal shelters or to try to avoid abandonment, aid for abandoned animals, etc.
We will infinitely thank your help because it's a work we're conducting with a lot of effort and commitment in order to get a good great in the subject and it's not something public but just academic.
Thankt you very much in advance.

Dear annafrdez,
The EEA is the EU agency responsible for providing information on the European environment. The EEA collects environmental data from the Member Countries, other EU institutions and international organisations. Based on this information, we produce reports on various environmental topics.
Unfortunately I have to inform you that animal protection is not part of our working remit.

You may find some useful information on the webpage of the European Commission, DG Health and Consumers that can be found at:

You can also contact DG Health and Consumers directly at:[…]/contact_en.htm

An overview on EU legislation can be found at:[…]/list-of-eu-laws-on-animal-welfare

Hope that helps.
