I am trying to implement a life cycle model of transport air emissions. I read the very consistent report "EMEP/EEA air pollutant emission inventory guidebook — 2009, Exhaust emissions from road transport", and I do not find any consideration about load factor. It is an important parameter in air emission per road vehicules. Is it underlying in emissions factor ? How can I include the load factor parameter ? Could I convert your emission factor in tons/km ?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Dear njetil,
there are indeed some considerations on load factor for HDVs in conjunction with slope. The HDV vehicle curves for calculating the emission factors depending on the load (0, 50, 100% of load) are in this file:
1.A.3.b Road transport annex HDV files.zip [1.2 MB]

There are currently no information about load factor (or car occupancy) for passenger cars available.

Thank you for your answer, I found load consideration for tier 3 calculation.
I saw that tier 1 factors are based on tier 3 calculation for an average EU-15 fleet and activity data for 1995.
It is written p43 of your report that correction must be applied on tier 3 baseline equations in order to take into account load factor.
My question is does tier 1 abd 2 factors/equations are based on baseline without load consideration or every parameters are taken into account accordingly to TREMOVE database ?

Thank you for your answer

Dear njetil
For this technical question, I suggest that you contact Emisia who are administrating this dataset. I will send you the contact information for the methodology developers and guidebook writers by e-mail.

Best regards
