Hello EEA,

I'm working on a project to reduce the VOC emissions from oil storage tanks. Therefore I need data about the VOC emission in Europe.

Do you know where I can find this data?

Thank you very much in advance. Regards.

Hello!

You can find the data you request on EEA’s Air Data Centre pages (http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/dc) where two relevant data sets are available:

• Air pollutant emissions data viewer (LRTAP Convention): http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/air-emissions-viewer-lrtap

Oil storage tanks are covered in the drop-down 'emission source' list under the code of 1B2 (covering fugitive emissions from fuels) - there are several sub-categories under 1B2 that might be of interest. The EMEP/EEA Guidebook (http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/emep-eea-emission-inventory-guidebook-2009) has some information on default methods and emission factors from these sources - again in the chapter associated with the 1B2 sector codes.

• Air pollutant emissions data viewer (NEC Directive): http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/emissions-nec-directive-viewer

From the drop down list “Air pollutant” it’s possible to select the aggregated VOCs (NMVOC).

Please consult the latest background reports for further details:

• European Union emission inventory report 1990–2009 under the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (LRTAP: http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/eu-emission-inventory-report-1990-2009

• NEC Directive status report 2010: http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/nec-directive-status-report-2010

I hope this information will be useful to you.

Best regards
