Does Iceland comply with the EUs emission standards and directives?
I have a motorcycle approved and registered in Iceland in 2010 which is being blocked in Finland because of emission regulations.

Dear 'Hreggvidur',

Thank you for contacting the European Environment Agency (EEA).

As a member of the European Economic Area, Iceland fully applies EU laws about the four freedoms (free movement of goods, persons, services and capital), along with laws related to other areas of EU and EEA cooperation. This then includes the regulations and directives for two/three-wheel vehicles that are specified at the following link: https://ec.europa.eu/[…]/motorbikes-trikes-quads_en and that set emission standards defining the acceptable limits for exhaust emissions of new vehicles sold in the European Union and EEA member states.

You might want to check the EU Urban Access Regulations Portal where one can find regulations by country and city restrictions as regards vehicles emissions:
https://urbanaccessregulations.eu/. This might explain why your vehicle is subject to restrictions when entering another country or zone.

With kind regards,
EEA Enquiry Service
