Hi

My name is Nils Johansson and I am a waste researcher at KTH (Stockholm) and ÖKO institute (Berlin). Currently I am trying to map and compare requirements for using waste in different EU countries.

Therefore, I would like to know:

Is there any overview of requirements in the different member states for using waste such as bottom ashes as construction material in for example roads? Are there any limits on total concentration and leaching concentration in the waste?

Is there any overview of requirements in the different member states for using sewage sludge as a fertilizer on agriculture fields? Are there any limits on total concentration in the sludge and in the field?

If no, where can I find this information? Your answers would be of much help in my research. If there a legislation, please direct me towards regional requirements, relevant documents and if possible the exact pages.

Hi Nils,

I am sorry but we have not done any work in this area.

A possibility to find some information could be the implementation reports on waste legislation, which are available here: http://ec.europa.eu/[…]/report10_12.htm (for the Sewage sludge Directive).

On fertilisers, it could be possible that the European Commission has done a study on this in connection with the revision of the EU fertilisers Regulation.

Kind regards
