JBartels Hello, while working on a project I would like to visualize the WISE emissions database (https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/waterbase-emissions-7). In the database it says that the spatial type is 'euSubUnitCode', but if I try the WISE WFD reference spatial data sets (https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/wise-wfd-spatial-2) there are no SubUnit codes for UK - while there is data for the UK in the emission database. Where do I find the SubUnit database that includes the UK?

rene Hi, I am a MSc student at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I am looking into the EU ETS data, especially about freely allocated allowances, total allowances, and verified emissions.
However, when I download verified emissions and freely allocated allowances for all stationary installations on aggregate level, it is not the same as when I download the emissions per activity type, and then add the total verified and freely allocated emissions for all activity types.

Interestingly, the total amount of freely allocated allowances on the aggregate level is about twice as high as when I sum them for all activity types.

The verified emissions just differ in both ways, not by a specific fraction.

Now I was wondering, how is this possible, am I doing something wrong, or is there a better way to get this information?

See below the links to the data.

Then, another question relating to the Union Registry: What is exactly the meaning of Allocation_20xx? Is that the total allocation (free+auctioned+bought?), or something else? Same question for Verified_emissions_20xx, these numbers do not seem to coincide with the dataviewer. What data source is the most reliable one?

You would help me a great deal if you have answers to my questions. Thanks a lot in advance and have a great day.

Kind regards,
René

Daniel_W For a research project, I need EU's F-gas emissions in terms of tons of substance.
What I found so far:
- F-gas emissions in t of CO2e, but lacking information about the average GWP used to calculate them (e.g. here:
https://www.eea.europa.eu/p[…]eenhouse-gas-inventory-2019)
- Figures about F-gas supply, production etc, which cannot easily be related to emissions (e.g. here: https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/fluorinated-greenhouse-gases-2019)
Can you tell me where I can find EU's F-gas emissions in terms of tons of substance? Alternatively, can I find somewhere the average GWP value used for conversion of F-gas emissions to CO2e (which I could use to back-calculate to tons of substance)?
Thank you and kind regards!

Daniel_W Hello,
when I make the following adjustments in the GHG Viewer (
https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/greenhouse-gases-viewer), the percentages add up to more than 100%:
- Greenhouse Gas: CO2
- Predefined view: Emissions share by sector in the EU28
Kind regards,
Daniel

Daniel_W Hello,

I have a question regarding reported EU greenhouse gas emissions (which can be found under
https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/greenhouse-gases-viewer):

Data are reported in terms of CO2 equivalents (CO2e). What are the Global Warming Potential (GWP) values with which these values were calculated? Were they calculated with the same GWP value for all years?

Thank you very much and kind regards,
Daniel

sbalasub EDGAR emissions data unavailable at http://edgar.jrc.ec.europa.eu. How can we access available time-series data by pollutant classification for EDGAR 2012 database? Thanks!

eso19 Dear EEA Team,
I am very interested in your database on vehicle emissions (
https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/co2-cars-emission-14#tab-metadata). However, I am not sure whether these data are based on official emission levels declared by car makers, or on user-reported/member state provided measurements in everyday driving conditions.
Thank you in advance for your support and thanks for making these data publicly available.
