Dear Michael,

EEA reports, graphs and data can be re-used and reproduced for both non-commercial and commercial purposes under the following condition:

"Content used may not be altered without the explicit permission of the EEA and the source (EEA) should be acknowledged. However, the use of excerpts of reports is permissible, as long as it is made clear what is EEA material and what is not."

Please see also the legal notice page on our website at the following link: http://www.eea.europa.eu/legal/copyright

As for your question about how to get original copies of diagrams from our publications, I would need to know which diagrams you are specifically interested in, as some of the data published in our reports are not generated by the EEA.

I am interested in the figures in EEA Report No. 8/2011. I am using them in my thesis/conference. I am know the importance of acknowledging the source of the material.

Dear Michael,
you can retrieve these diagrams from the web page of the publication. The graphs are at the below part of the page:

Dear EEA,

I have another question about using figures from EEA-Reports.

Of course I have already read your answers to the question from Michael.
But in your reply from Aug,27,2012 you say that it is permitted to use the content of EEA reports as long as they would be quoted correctly.

The report of my interest is EEA Report No 10/2012. On the fourth page of that report I found the following text:
 "All rights reserved
No part of this publication may be reproduced in any form or by any means electronic or mechanical, including photocopying, recording or by any information storage retrieval system, without a prior permission in writing. For permission, translation or reproduction rights please contact EEA"

So, is it allowed to use figures from this report in my master thesis?

Best regards,
Franz

Hi Franz, the statement you refer to is in the publication by error. Unless otherwise indicated, re-use of content on the EEA website and publications for commercial or non-commercial purposes is permitted free of charge, provided that the source is acknowledged. Good luck with your thesis!
