Requesting monthly/sample river phosphorus concentration data:

Hello, I'm doing research on seasonal stream concentrations in all of Europe and I'm looking for phosphorus concentration data at the sampled station in streams at a monthly (or finer) time scale.

I've already looked in the following databases:
(1) https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/
(2) https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/waterbase-rivers-10
(3) https://www.eea.europa.eu/d[…]ater-assessment-published-6

But phosphorus data is either missing (1), or too aggregated (2,3). Is there a way I can have access to the raw phosphorus data?

Thank you very much,

Thank you for getting back to me. Is there an estimated timeline (days or weeks?)

Hi, I just want to add that I'm also looking for more nitrate data. It seems like not all the stations that have nitrate data were included in the disaggregated dataset that is available through your website. I'm looking for nitrate and phosphorus data for at least post 2000 sampling dates, as sampling results or monthly average results for all European stations.

Hello,

I've figured out why there seemed to be data missing -- the database provided online was complete, it was my code that had a memory limitation so it was not reading the whole file. For anyone who may have come across the same issue as me, there should be about 22 million rows in the waterbase water quality database.

Thank you for your time.

Hello again,

It seems you are not in need of more help from our side, but nevertheless we have a few comments for you: The data on Waterbase water quality are collected by countries and they voluntarily provide it to us. We don’t collect the data; if you have a particular interest in the detailed data, it might be better to ask the countries directly.

In relation to what we do have: We are currently revising Waterbase water quality as we found some problems with it – we don’t have a firm delivery date, but are hoping that it will be updated by early summer. Iin the mean time, the old water quality database may still be useful:

Kind regards.

Hello,

Thank you for your response, it's helpful to know. Do you mind re-posting the link to the old water quality database you mentioned? The link in your comment redirects me back to this thread.

Also, I understand that there are some issues with the Waterbase water quality but do you happen to know anything about specifically the lat/lon information for the stations in that database? The individual countries/states have locations for their stations seem to have a very different naming convention than what is reported in Waterbase, so I am not able to match them up. I made a post about it here: https://community.eea.europa.eu/[…]/view

Please let me know if you have any information about getting the locations pertaining to the station id's in the Waterbase water quality database.

Thank you again,
Joy

Hello,
The only thing we can say at this moment is that we are working on a revised database including updates to 2015, and the linkage to monitoring status reported via the WFD 2nd River Basin Management Plans. We plan to publish the revised and updated database within a few months.
In the meantime we recommend to use the earlier versions of Waterbases https://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/waterbase-rivers-10
Kind regards.

Hi,
Thank you for letting me know the expected timeline. I look forward to when the new database is released.
All the Best.
