In the US, the Department of Sanitation recommends that levels of CO2 in your home do not to exceed 1,000 ppm. Does the EEA have a similar recommendation in Europe?

Hi maryburtt,
Indoor air quality is not regulated by the European Commission; only outdoor air quality (ambient air) is regulated. The main concern when it comes to indoor pollution is CO, produced by incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. Domestic sources are regulated via products (for instance the content of solvents in paintings). In this regard you may find an assessment by the European Commission Scientific Committee on health and environmental risks (indoor air quality) interesting http://ec.europa.eu/[…]/index.htm#9.
