Hello, this is a question towards the EEA- WASTE DIVISION

 , civic initiative

Our civic initiative, LET'S DO IT ! BELGIUM ; organises an info evening in ANTWERPEN/BELGIUM on friday, JUNE 13th , about the illegal
waste issue, and its negative impact on
the environment. ( the plastic soup in the ocean )

LET'S DO IT ! BELGIUM is the Belgian 'wing' of the international LET'S DO IT ! WORLD -movement which originated in ESTONIA in 2008.
On May 3 , 2008 more than 50.000 volunteers participated in a national CLEANUP in Estonia in which 10.000 tons of waste was removed from forests and road sides.
This started a movement which is now active in more than a hundred countries.
See :
and and

During the EU-initiative LET'S CLEAN UP EUROPE , last Month of May , LDI-BELGIUM
was also co-coordinator of the campaign in Belgium.

Aim of the information evening
1. To give an overview of the CLEANUP-action in a few European Countries .

2. To have a panel discussion about the way forward in dealing with the waste issue.
LDI-BELGIUM is confirmed that the best option would be the Introduction of refund money for plastic and aluminium food and drink packages throughout the whole EU.

Question and invitation to EEA -WASTE DEPARTMENT :
would someone from your staff be able and willing to give a general introduction about this matter to a non-scientifically trained audience ?
Also participating in a final debate with Belgian -politicians is a part of the programme.

We realise this invitation arrives relatively late, but we do hope that someone in your staff would have some time free in his / her agenda.

Looking forward to your reply.

Best greetings
Jef Helderweert
LET'S DO IT ! BELGIUM campaign team
