Could you please suggest me relevant source for GHG price projection from period 2020-2050?

Dear Anchy,

Thank you for your question and your interest in the European Environment Agency (EEA).

The agency offices are closed for the holidays from Friday, 21 December and when work resumes it may take a while longer to answer your enquiry than we usually strive for. Please bear with us and happy Christmas to you.

Best,
EEA Enquiry Service.

Dear Anchy,

Our apologies for the late reply.

The EEA does not produce price projections for CO2 or GHG in general. We are working on sourcing information on projections from colleagues at another EU institution and hope to be able to provide you with an answer soon.

Best regards,

Hello,

Kindly note that projections on what the effective carbon prices will be in the EU ETS is not produced.

However, there exists a stylised modelling that captures how different policy tools interact in the EU's policy framework and what the resulting impact can be on carbon prices in ETS sectors. The full price profile is for instance made available in the 'EU Reference Scenario 2016 Energy, transport and GHG emissions Trends to 2050' (see page 29). which you may access at: https://ec.europa.eu/[…]/20160713%20draft_publication_REF2016_v13.pdf

Since this report, you may find the use of this scenario in impact assessments and other report variants, to look into how updates in policies can affect price developments. However, we are advised that typically, one would look at price impacts in one single year, e.g. 2030 for the impact assessments supporting the legislative proposals implementing the 2030 climate and energy framework.

We hope this information may be useful to you.

Kind regards,
EEA Enquiry Service
