Start a discussion...Special waste regulations 1996
Where a former Landfill site has been covered by this Act, having a history of Waste material classified as
Special:
Waste that has hazardous properties and is defined in the Special Waste Regulations 1996. Such properties may be flammable, irritant, toxic, harmful, carcinogenic or corrosive.
Liquids/sludge:
Industrial wastewater, sewage sludge and chemical wastes mixed with municipal solid waste.
Could you please comment on development of this land for habitation purposes?
Do you consider it safe to live on this land, disturb the soil by excavation and generally live with a young family on such a site with a history of Irritant, Harmful ,Toxic, Carcinogenic and corrosive materials?
This site is in the UK
Many thanks.
P.

Hey,
I wondering what are the definiton of primary treatment, secondary treatment and more stringent treatment for UWWT plants that you can find in informations like in this map http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/uwwt-plants
I found this; secondary treatment = removal of organic pollution
and more stringent treatment = cover nutrient removal
but is't there any guidlines for how much the removal that has too be done?
And one more question, what differ the definitions above from Secondary treatment, primary treatment and tertiary treatment as you can find in pictures like this one http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/urban-wastewater-treatment? And can I get any values of the removal for tertiary treatment?
Very greatful for all answers

Dear sir or madam,
My name is Joris Bolder and I am a Dutch master student in Public Administration at the University of Twente. I am currently working on my thesis, for which I compare Russian and European environment policies, with a focus on corporate social responsibility. After using (very) helpful data from your online publications, I decided to try the enquiry form for some extra help, but it crashed so I will now try the forum. My question is whether it is possible to get in direct contact with one of your employees who is interested in doing an interview with me. This interview will be to confirm some of the impressions I gained from the publications, as well as to ask for some personal opinions. If possible, a Dutch contact is preferred because this would make it possible for me to meet him or her in person.
I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with my research, although I would understand you have other priorities considering your profession.
One final note I would like to add is that I will actually go to Moscow for several months to complete my analysis, perhaps making some of my future research conclusions interesting for you.
Thank you for considering my request!
Kind regards,
Joris Bolder
