Diffuse pollution is defined as "Pollution from widespread activities with no one discrete source, e.g. acid rain, pesticides, urban run-off, agricultural runoff etc." It may cover many substances/pollutants such as nutrients, pesticides, hazardous substances (e.g. leaking from abandoned mines, industrial pollution or waste deposits).
