Hi, I'm a the master course student majoring in environmental engineering.
In this time, I have been taken a project related in hospital waste.
Here in korea, hospital waste is classified in hazardous waste. But we just manage it monitoring from generation of the waste to disposal step through RFID system.
Therefore, hazardous waste move long distance over 300km in country.
Because of this situation, I concern that it can be threats public health. so I consider that we need regulation strengthen about limitation distance of the hospital waste.

So, I wonder whether EU has similar regulation or policy in limitation distance about hazardous waste or not.
(I want to know similar regulation in EU)

And, I want to ask how do you think about limitation distance about hazardous waste.
Do you think is it need??

Hi, currently there is no limitation of distances hazardous waste is allowed to be transported in the EU. However, the EU has extended legislation for how hazardous substances can be transported, including for hazardous waste. For shipments of hazardous waste, more information is available in the following report:
Movements of waste across the EU’s internal and external borders, EEA Report No 7/2012:[…]/movements-of-waste-EU-2012
