Dear EEA staff,
I am using your (great) Urban Atlas data.
Now, I am also keen to cite some related documents in a publication.
Therefore, I am also referring to the Mapping guide. Unfortunately, I've found two versions published by the EU/ EEA. One from 2008 (mapping guide) and one from 2011 (mapping guide v2_final). Which one should I use? Is the 2011 version citable?

Because I am not fully aware of the correct citation styles/ text of
1.) the Urban Atlas data
2.) the mapping guide (v2.?)

could you please provide me with the correct citation text ?

Thank you very much in advance and
with best regards

Albert

Hi Albert,
The 2011 version is the one to be used; the difference between the two are some minor corrections in the nomenclature, but the data meet the 2011 version. Correct citation should be found in the metadata. It is important that the European Commission/DG REGIO is mentioned as the owner of the data and the EEA as the data custodian.
Hope you find this useful, otherwise you are welcome to come back to us.

Hey,
thanks a lot for your answer.
So I'll refer to the 2011- version.
Unfortunately, I cannot find the correct citation in the metadata.
Could you just give me a correct version or refer to a publication, where the UA was cited correctly ?

Thanks a lot
Albert

We propose the following:
(c) European Union. Urban Atlas is a product commissioned by DG REGIO and provided by the Copernicus programme.
/Hope this answers your question.
