Dear Sirs,

At http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/co2-cars-emission-2 you refer that: "The Regulation (EC) No 443/2009 requires Member States to record information for each new passenger car registered in its territory. Every year, each Member State shall submit to the Commission all the information related to their new registrations. In particular, the following details are required for each new passenger car registered: manufacturer name, type, variant, version, make and commercial name, specific emissions of CO2, mass of the vehicle, wheel base, track width, fuel type and fuel mode. Additional information, such as type approval number, engine power and engine capacity were also submitted."

I'm doing an important vehicle market research, and in order to properly advance it is required to get detailed data on vehicle registrations. I'm not only interested in total vehicles per OEM and average fleet figures, but specifically, for each OEM and each european market, in sub-total numbers for each commercial name, containing engine power and engine capacity data. In fact, I need to access the database with all Member States new registrations figures.

You have this data. My question is: can you provide it? How could I access it?

Thank you very much in advance for all your help.
I'm looking forward to your feedback.

Best,
Alvaro Sousa

Dear Alvaro Sousa.

Very detailed information is available in the database that can be downloaded at:
http://www.eea.europa.eu/[…]/co2-cars-emission-2
This database compiles information by country, commercial name, engine capacity, etc.

I hope this help.

Dear EEA,

Thank you very much for your information, it helped a lot!

I've been analyzing the data. While comparing it with other sources, I now realize that it is not matching and therefore I need your help again in order to figure it out.

Example - Total vehicles registered in Germany

1. your data: 2,932,608
2. ACEA: 3,173,634
3. KBA (Germany): 3,173,634

The other sources match. The delta of -8% is huge. What do you think might be wrong? Could it be that by mistake your data is from 2010 instead of 2011?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Dear Asousa,

Germany informed the Commission in September 2012 that approximately 200 000 registrations for 2011 had been omitted from the dataset submitted to the Commission in February 2012. In view of the strict timetable for confirming the data and because the database was already published the 20th of June 2012, it has not been possible to allow manufacturers to verify those missing registrations and as a consequence those records will not be included in the final dataset.
