Signals 2012 - Building the future we want
New EEA report launched on World Environment Day
Signals is an annual publication which aims to explain complex environmental issues for a non-expert audience. The 2012 edition explores the environmental impacts of our consumption and production patterns, and ways these can be changed to reduce their effect on the environment. This subject was chosen because it is a significant component of a ‘green economy’, one of the main focuses of the Rio+20 sustainable development Summit which will take place in Rio de Janeiro later this month.

Nad252004 Hello, I´m industrial engineer and one of my responsibilities is to make an monthly environment report and I am looking for a list of industrial waste where I can find their names and codes in English; this list in Spain it is called “Lista Europea de Residuos” and each waste or scrap have a code, for example: wood has the code “LER” 170201. I haven´t be able to find it in http://www.eea.europa.eu/; Could you help me to find this list in English?

Where can I find data and information on nature and biodiversity in Europe?
The Biodiversity Information System for Europe (BISE) is a single entry point for data and information on biodiversity in the EU. Bringing together facts and figures on biodiversity and ecosystem services, it links to related policies, environmental data centres, assessments and research findings from various sources. It is being developed to strengthen the knowledge base and support decision-making on biodiversity.

Hello, what is EEA-s view on LED products and LED lamps? Would you think usage of LED products should be encouraged and/or rewarded somehow? Problem with LED products is that they are very expensive. In other hand, they help to save energy and environment. One way how to make the LED products cheaper would be lowering costs for importing and taxes like taxes for recycling the LED products.

I would like to know whether there is information about the money invested in climate change mitigation and / or adaptation of every country of the EU, as well as the money invested by the EU to each member for this issue. Where could I find this information? Is there any data set that is updated yearly? any clue?

Hello, (this is my first post so apologies for my inevitable errors in protocol, etc.) I am looking at the European directive on industrial emissions (2010/75/EU). In reading at the ELVs (annex 5) for combustion plants it is not clear to me if these are for a specific sector (e.g. power generation) or for all sectors (unless excluded). Can someone clarify?
